The moment you set your ‘out of office’ to active on Outlook and close the lid on your laptop, you should feel excited at the prospect of a much-needed break away from the hustle and bustle of the office. However, it can sometimes be a challenge to fully switch off during the festive period. Here at Baxter Williams, we have decided to ask the team for their advice on pulling the plug on working hours over Christmas.

Ellie’s tip

For me I find it best to prioritise my tasks before signing off at 5pm on a Friday, ensuring I have responded to all client emails. The last working day before Christmas is no exception. Creating a list and working through it will make it far easier to enjoy the time off before the New Year begins.

Nick’s tips

As many of my colleagues will tell me, I am very much glued to either my laptop or my phone, networking and engaging with clients which I love to do. But, over the festive period I will make sure I spend time with my family and friends and turn off any devices for a day or maybe even two if I am lucky!

Kate’s tips

Spending time with friends and family over the Christmas period is important, especially as I have the little one now. Communicating with the rest of the team prior to finishing for the festivities ensures Baxter Williams continues to deliver our exceptional services meaning we can all relax and have a deserved break.

We hope this has given some advice for how best to switch off over the Christmas period and we look forward to sharing more advice in 2022! For now all there is left to say is Merry Christmas!
